Voice of a Weary Soul

I will not label helping others as an act of sacrifice,
but, to prioritize others' need before your own is sacrificing.

Little act of kindness is never so little,
combine those acts altogether, it becomes a pile of heavy rocks that will weigh you down.

The receiver thinks it is just ‘some’ help,
only those who continuously give feel the strains.

What an irony, they are always there when needing help.
When you need them, they disappear.

They depend on you, they need you,
they use you.

What are you to them?
A family, friend or a mere convenience?

Sweet words they use to tempt you into helping them.
Cold shoulder as the respond after having what they need.

Will they even remember what happened today after they succeed in their life?
Majority wouldn’t.

In the beginning, they say, “my future depend on your kindness,”
Then, they will say, “with or without your help, I would still succeed,”

From someone who plays a major role to someone who provides an insignificant help,
Is there a lovelier reversal?

There is no way of escaping these situations,
as the world won’t let you off so easily.

A refusal once in a while to recharge your tired soul,
you will be labeled as selfish.

And the history repeats itself again,
Others' before yourself – one more time and again and again.

In the end, what left behind is just an empty soul of yours,
as drain and dry as the Sahara desert.

If someone asks me, I have no regret,
never mind of the outcome,
for you are someone I care of.
If only you are kind enough to acknowledge my existence as a fellow human being,
instead of a burden you hate to shoulder,
or an embarrassment you resent to associate with.
